HEART & DETERMINATION
DJ graduated from Clayton High School in 2004. He played four
years of soccer at Clayton High School, and he enjoyed fishing and
other outdoor activities.
While in high school DJ attended the Gloucester County Vo -Tech
institutue for Law Enforcement. He was a graduate of the class of
2004 for this particular program.
His former coach described the young Bentz as a "good, little
player." Standing only 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 130
pounds in high school, Bentz was one of the smallest kids on the
field, Clayton High School Athletic Director and former coach Dan
Antonelli recalled on Thursday.
"He made up for all the rest in heart out there," Antonelli said. The
two were next-door neighbors for several years in Clayton. "He
was a very determined little guy who always had a smile on his
face," Antonelli said.

A LOVE FOR SOCCER IS BORN!
We were standing at Twin Kiss getting Ice cream just him and I...DJ
always loved watermelon or bubblegum sherbert with rainbow jimmies
in a cup...had to be in a cup...lol
So we are standing outside waiting to order and he just pulls on my leg
and says...mommy I want to play soccer...I said soccer?..he said
yeah...this was August so I signed him up and soccer we did for the
rest of his life...he was four then and he played that September and
never stopped, even in Iraq.
One of the first things he wanted sent to him was his soccer ball and I
did, he was able to play with the Iraqi Kids and he told me not as much
as he liked to but he did...he would kick over the fence and they would
kick it back.
God I loved to watch him play...and he played so much there were
times I would be driving and he would be changing uniforms in the car
to play the next game for another town....DJ's soul was on the field
when he played and I felt it at every game...I would give everything to
see him play again and grin at me when he made that shot!!!
